Works of Salto Architects have concentrated on different forms of public space: a mixture of architecture, landscape design and installation.
We have always evaluated ourselves by comparing our design concepts to the sharpness of ideas in conceptual installation art. At the same time we have been interested in the bluntness of infrastructure.
Art strongly relies on creativity and questioning while infrastructure mainly on normatives and problem solving. But looking at them as statements from either (geo)political, social, economical, emotional or spacial aspect they are not so different at all.
We believe that studying these two drastic fields and stretching them closer to architecture provides new territories and unexpected qualities. They evoke a wide range of related topics that have influenced us during the 10-year practice of Salto Architects.
