Initial themes of research and a review of case studies and community of practice have identified an important duality in my work process. This duality moves between ‘objects and their associative sets’ and ‘compositional space’. Both areas have distinct characteristics that influence the design process. They attempt both to embed the work in culture and to transcend it.
In this session we hope to begin to explore this duality. We examine how objects and their ability to carry meaning, which is made explicit through difference, appear in our work. I also examine compositional space in which objects are positioned in conversations outside associative sets to form affecting presences in metaphysical and physical space.
